Privacy policy
This page explains how the personal data of visitors to perumani.com is handled, under articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Italian legislative decree 196/2003 as amended by decree 101/2018.
I’ll say it at the top, because it is the part that actually matters: this site collects very little. There is no sign-up, no members’ area, no newsletter and no active advertising. There is a count of the pages people read, with no cookies and without identifying anybody, explained below. I sell data to nobody, in any form, and there would be nothing to sell.
Data controller
The controller is Andrea Bissi, a private individual, reachable at help@perumani.com.
The fact that the site is non-profit takes nothing away from your rights: the GDPR applies just the same, and requests are handled just the same.
What data is processed
Technical browsing data. Like every site on the internet, the service that delivers these pages records some information needed to do so: IP address, browser and operating system, page requested, date and time, and similar security data. It serves to deliver the page, to protect the site from attacks and abuse, and to tell whether something is broken. Legal basis: legitimate interest in running a working, secure service (art. 6.1.f GDPR). This data is not used to profile anyone and is not linked to your identity.
Theme preference. If you choose the light or dark theme, that choice is stored in your own browser, on your own device. It never reaches me and never leaves it.
What you write to me. If you send an email, I handle your address and what you wrote for the sole purpose of replying. Legal basis: legitimate interest in answering people who get in touch (art. 6.1.f), or carrying out your request. Nobody who writes is added to any list.
Reading statistics. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to know how many pages are read, and which ones. It differs from the systems you are used to, and it is worth saying how: it uses no cookies and no other browser storage, it gives you no identifier and it does not follow you from site to site. What gets recorded is the page requested, the page you arrived from, the browser and operating system, the country, and a few measurements of how long the page took to load. None of that leads back to a person, and I only see aggregate numbers: there is no list of visitors to look through. Legal basis: legitimate interest in understanding which articles are useful and whether the site works (art. 6.1.f GDPR). Since nothing is stored on your device, there is no banner to accept.
What is not here
No profiling cookies, because there is no active advertising on the site. No Google Analytics or other system that builds a profile of the people who read. No newsletter and no collection of addresses. No social buttons tracking who passes by. No sale or transfer of data to third parties for commercial purposes.
If advertising is ever switched on to cover costs, something will change and you will read it here: this notice will be updated before it goes live, and you will be asked for consent through a panel where you can accept, refuse or choose. Refusing will always remain possible without losing access to a single article.
Who else sees this data
The pages are delivered by Cloudflare, the service that hosts and distributes the site. In that role it processes the technical data described above on the controller’s behalf and for the security of its own network. Email passes through the service that runs the @perumani.com mailbox.
These providers may process data outside the European Union, on the basis of the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or of adequacy decisions.
Beyond those cases, your data is disclosed to nobody, except where the law requires it.
How long it is kept
Technical data stays in the hosting service’s logs for the period set by its own security policies, on the order of a few months. Emails stay in the mailbox for as long as the conversation needs and long enough to find it again; you can ask for deletion whenever you like.
Your rights
You can ask to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict processing, to receive it in a readable format, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent where you have given it (arts. 15-22 GDPR). Write to help@perumani.com: a person answers, usually within a few days.
If you believe your data is being handled improperly, you may complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it), or to the supervisory authority in your own country.
Children
The site is aimed at an adult audience and does not knowingly collect children’s data. With no sign-up and no address collection, the occasion does not arise.
Changes
This notice may change, for instance if advertising is switched on. The date below says when it was last revised.
